The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Mr. Adedayo Somoye has charged the State Civil Servants to make discipline a priority in the discharge of their statutory duties.
Somoye gave the charge during a pre-retirement interaction with journalists in his Office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of Civil Servants emphasise what discipline entails.
The Permanent Secretary, who would be bowing out of service soon, pointed out that discipline among workers engenders efficiency and productivity, adding that abscondment, lateness to office, disrespect to superior officers, and many more were actions that should be totally discouraged.
Speaking on his experience while traversing through the service, Somoye said dedication to duty with commitment and hard work had been his major propelling force to achieve greater height.
In his words, "From my days as a classroom teacher of Chemistry and Mathematics, I know that showing dedication to duty is the only answer to progression in the service, hence, when I got into the mainstream of the Civil Service, I intensified efforts and remained committed to my goal. Today, I'm grateful to God for the height I have attained as a Permanent Secretary, which of course is the Apex for any Civil Servant".
The Permanent Secretary noted that under his watch, the Commission had continued to discharge its statutory duties diligently, assuring that the agency would continue to occupy its enviable position among its peers across the nation.
