Civil servants in Ogun state have been charged to continue to be at their best at all times, maintain and strive to improve the high standard of performance bequeathed to them by their forebears in the public service.
The state head of service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun made the charge during an interview held after inspecting the conduct of the ongoingconfirmation/ promotion tests and compulsory examination for all categories of cadres in the public service held at the Staff Development Centre, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta.
Mr. Fagbohun, in company of the permanent secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo inspected various examination halls at the centre to see the comportment, seriousness as well as preparedness of the candidates.
"The main thrust of the exam is to test our officers, how far they have imbibed, internalized the rules and regulations covering their job which was designed in a way to moderate their conduct in public service and it's also a compulsory exam for their appointments to be confirmed and eligible for promotion to the next grade, Fagbohun stressed.
He remarked that he saw the seriousness and determination to scale through the hurdles of the examination by the candidates, these he described are hallmarks of the civil service.
While answering another question on how to improve the examination, the Head of Service said that the state is looking for a way to digitalised it and move away from a paper and ink system, while efforts will also be intensified to improve the venue of the examination not necessarily through government but also through the assistance of public-spirited Nigerians.
About 500 civil servants wrote the exam in all categories of professional, sub-professional, and junior officers cadres.
