Ayorinde flags off distribution of food palliatives



Prince Ayorinde Abdulsalam, the Executive Chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government, Ogun State says over twelve thousand  vulnerable households will benefit from the distribution of food palliatives in the local government.




Ayorinde disclosed this on Tuesday  during the flag-off ceremony of the distribution of the food palliatives held at the legislative quarters in Abeokuta. 




The council chairman informed that the initiative is part of the efforts of the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy on the people of the state.




Ayorinde maintained that the beneficiaries of the palliatives were drawn from every part of the community as  to reach out to  everyone.




He said part of the distribution strategy include the targeting of heavily impacted people, consisting Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) and widows, vulnerable households and the  aged.




The Council chairman assured the people of equitable distribution of the items.


He explained further that the measures became necessary to improve the situation among the vulnerable residents of Abeokuta North Local Government.



"On behalf of the people of Abeokuta North Local Government, i want to  appreciate our amiable Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun for his love for Abeokuta North Local Government. Today, where are here to  kick- start the distribution of food palliatives to our people. Our target is to reach out to over twelve thousand vulnerable house holds, the aged,  petty traders, the widows, people living with disabilities among others.


"I want to assure everyone of equitable distribution of food palliatives. This initiative will alleviate the pains and sufferings of the people of Abeokuta North LG"

“We thank His Excellency, the Governor, for this kind initiative. The palliatives have come at the right time. I want to assure that the rice and every other item to be supplied would be distributed equally across the local government.


The leader of the legislative house in Abeokuta North Local Government,  Honorable Sikiru Sanni commended Governor Abiodun for the initiative, saying  that the state government was mindful of the welfare of its people and that the challenges faced by them due to the removal of fuel subsidy.
