The Ogun State Governor; Prince Dapo Abiodun says his administration would commence an immediate assessment of the Ita-Oshin to Ayetoro road, with a promise to embark on its immediate reconstruction.
Governor Dapo Abiodun who made this known during the commissioning of the 7 kilometers Ibooro/Imasayi/Ayetoro road in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State, said that it has become expedient to reconstruct the Federal Road which he said has not made the movement of the people from the area to Ibooro enjoyable.
While noting that his administration would divide the road from Ita-Oshin into phases, Abiodun, said that movement from the State capital to Ayetoro would soon become a very pleasurable drive.
"On my way here from Abeokuta, I rode through the Ita-Oshin to this intersection, I asked my Special Adviser, how many kilometers, bearing in mind that this is yet another Federal Road amongst so many Federal roads that we have in Ogun State.
"I have instructed that the Ministry of Works immediately come here and do an assessment of the road from Ita-Oshin to Ibooro, we will divide that road into phases, maybe two or three phases and we will begin the immediate reconstruction of that road.
He pointed out that the State government initially left the road due to the promise made by the Federal government to reconstruct the road, adding that it was obvious that the government at the centre will not embark on the project again, hence the need for his administration to take it up.
Abiodun at the commissioning also said that his administration is poised to make Yewa North and Imeko the food basket of not only the state but the country as a whole, noting that the present administration is locating a Rice Development and Processing Center in the district.
Earlier in his remarks, the Special Adviser, Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya said that the road which had been in a bad condition before its reconstruction would bring succour to the residents of surrounding communities and mitigate flooding which was initially common in the area.
In his remark, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland; Oba Kehinde Olugbenle urged the Governor to complete phase two of the 21 kilometers stretch of the Ibooro, Imasayi, and Ayetoro road, adding that the people of the district appreciate the Governor for his passion and commitment to developing all parts of the State.
In her contribution, the Iyaloja General of Ogun State; Alhaja Yemisi Abass, admonished the Governor to put naysayers to shame with the completion of the second phase of the road, saying that the total completion of the road would ensure the overall prosperity of the people.
