OUR PPP INITIATIVE HAS HELPED IN ACHIEVING HEALTH GOALS- GOV ABIODUN

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said that his administration’s initiative on Public-Private Partnership (PPP), has helped in facilitating rapid achievement of the health goals of the State government.

Prince Abiodun, who stated this during the official flag-off of the free medical programme held at the clubhouse GRA Quarters, Sagamu, said no fewer than 5000 residents of Sagamu and its environs have benefited from the Free Medical Services by the Collectives Club of Sagamu in partnership with the Ogun State Government.

He disclosed that his administration had created a fertile ground for public-private partnership which has helped facilitate the rapid achievement of the health goals of the State government, explaining that the free health services go beyond treating ailments, but beneficiaries would know about their health status and talks like health promotion and prevention of common diseases.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladeinde, the Governor, disclosed that in the past four years, the government has invested immensely at all levels of the health sector in the state, including the tertiary, secondary, and especially the primary health center, noting that no matter the huge resources being expended, the state government still need people and organization to complement its efforts.

According to the Governor, "In the past few years, the Club has taken it upon itself to assist the government and the people of Sagamu. They've been running this program, and it has expanded, and improved on a yearly basis. We are confident that this is going to impact positively on the health system in the State because the 5000 beneficiaries will not pay for their services for their health needs.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the President of the Collectives Club, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, appreciated the State Government for providing the needed logistics and health personnel for the programme, adding that the gesture was part of their social responsibility to the community.

"We have the doctors here with the tools and equipment to diagnose patients. We have equipment for blood tests, the prostate cancer test, and all kinds of tests to be carried out and if you look around, you see all the experts from the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital are here teaching and supporting us to diagnose and after this, we prescribe drugs enough to treat the ailments", he added.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Yemisi Ogunjimi and Mr. Bolaji Ayoola thanked the organisers and the state government for coming to their aid yearly, adding that the gestures have contributed to their overall well-being, calling on other non-governmental organisations to take a cue from the initiative by also rendering free health care services to the people.
