The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, has commended members of the implementation committee of the Primary Health Care (PHC) Under-One-Roof policy for a thorough job by turning in a voluminous report of their recommendations to further put the health care system in a good stead in the State.
Mr. Fagbohun gave the commendation when the 9-man implementation committee led by its Chairman, who is the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Bolaji Lydia Fajounbo submitted the report of their recommendations in his office.
The Head of Service while appreciating the team for the good job and time expended in preparing the report said it would enable the State Government to design what Primary Health Care (PHC) would be in the future, and that the State already has the structures and funding in place but left with the issue of personnel, hence, the setting up of the committee to work on that.
"I want to appreciate the Chairman and members of the Committee for the report, the volume I have before me shows that the committee has done a thorough job and burnt midnight candles even at their ages. We may not appreciate what we are doing now, but note that we are designing what our Primary Health Care would be in the future. We have the structures, we have the funding and if we don't manage our personnel very well, we may not be able to deliver. I believe that you have touched all areas needed to be touched", Mr. Fagbohun said.
He promised the recommendation committee that government would look into their recommendations and come out with the policy guidelines, and once such is approved, it would be relayed to the health sector and that would allay the fears of health and medical personnel in the discharge of their statutory services to the State.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee, Mrs. Fajounbo in her submission said the committee took their time to thoroughly work on the report in order to come up with acceptable recommendations, and added that Primary Health Care policy is a major factor in the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun, hence, their diligence in coming up with workable recommendations with the hope that government would find the report useful.
She expressed her gratitude to government on behalf of the Committee, in particular, the Head of Service for the opportunity to serve the State in such a huge capacity.
Adding his voice, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, who is also a member of the Committee said the effective implementation of the report would give the State a better assessment in the National Primary Health Care delivery system than the second position it occupies in the last rating.
