FOUNDATION UPLIFTS INJURED EX-SERVICE MEN.



Retired Men of the Nigerian Army who were injured in the line of duty have their hope renewed as they received healthcare support, rehabilitation, mobility equipment and loan facilities among others from the iCare Development Initiative.


It was a new dawn for the ex-service men who said they have suffered many years of neglect from the nation they served with vigour. 


Speaking at the Nigerian Army Barracks, Nyang Gowe, Lafenwa Abeokuta, the founder, Mr Agbor Uwabor, said " the initiative was borne of empathy and passion for the vulnerable, especially for those who have bled to protect the territorial integrity of the nation.


 Uwabor said the event was many of the series of interventions for the ex-servicemen, adding that their support was premised on the demand and needs of the beneficiaries to create wealth and improve their living standard.


He said " these people you see here today are not without one scar or the other having served their fatherland by defending it against external aggression and they shouldn't be neglected to their fate having done so much for us to remain as a nation"


Also speaking at the event, Former Special Assistant to the Governor, Ogun Investment and Property Corporation (OPIC), Prince Farouk Adenugba on his part pledged to provide logistic support to fifty(50) of the beneficiaries for their conveyance to the Teaching Hospital for their healthcare support services.


Afenugba said he was moved to pity by the testimonies by the founder and experience shared by the beneficiaries adding that inline with the child education of the foundation who also promised to provide mentorship to fifty children of the ex-servicemen.



Two among the beneficiaries, Mr Micheal Akinbode who is an amputee received a donation of wheelchair while Mr Obaniyi Fredrick received a brand new Sowing machine, expressing their uncontrollable joy for the succour brought to them by the foundation when they least expected.


The duo appreciated the founder on behalf of other beneficiaries hoping that the support will be sustained for people like them.


Over Fifty of the beneficiaries present at the event received different support items including cash donations, wheelchairs, Crutches and Sowing Machines among others.
