WE’LL NOT CONDONE INDISCIPLINE IN SCHOOLS- ABIODUN'S AIDE

Ogun State Government has said no acts of indiscipline of any form would be condoned from the learners in either primary or secondary schools across the State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave this warning in Abeokuta, while receiving the new Executive of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), saying the Judiciary and the Police Force had been contacted to support the Ministry in War Against Indiscipline and Truancy in schools.

Arigbabu cited an instance of some learners of Isanbi Comprehensive High School, Ilisan, who were apprehended for beating a teacher, commending the Mathematical Association for joining hands with the government in moulding the lives of the learners.

He noted that part of the efforts put in place was the signing of Undertaking Forms by learners, parents and school heads to make learners and parents be liable for any misconduct of the learners or parents alike, saying the aim was to have a safe learning environment free from the pandemonium of any sort.

The Special Adviser said the welfare and well-being of citizens, especially teachers and learners were paramount to the present administration in the State, adding that the government has been working tirelessly to ensure peaceful living for teachers and learners within and outside the school premises.

He reiterated that, "I'm using this opportunity to advise parents to talk to their children, they should warn them, because we won't tolerate any indiscipline from any child. Any student that misbehaves in school will be dealt with appropriately".

Speaking, a former and current Chairman of the Association, Mrs. Adeola Igbokoyi and Dr. Temitope Ajani respectively, promised to be proactive in the discharge of their duties as subject teachers, adding that the Association would make the State proud in their forthcoming conference at Edo State.
