The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, has described Ogun State as a State that does not discriminate but embraces partnership in all that it does, especially in executing the 'Building Our Future Together' agenda of the present administration.
The Head of Service gave the vivid description while delivering a paper on 'Overview of Ogun State' to the participants of the Senior Executive Course 45, 2023 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State, who are on a study tour of Ogun State, held at the Conference Room, MITROS Residences, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
According to him, Ogun State is premised on a vision to provide focused and qualitative governance with the aim of creating an enabling environment for a public private partnership, which is fundamental to economic development and individual prosperity; while the ambition of promoting the State as one of the fastest growing economies in Nigeria is being pursued vigorously for the betterment of all.
"In Ogun State, there's no discrimination, there's partnership in all that we do. We do not just say the 'Building Our Future Together' mantra, we execute it, we put it into action. As a matter of fact, Ogun State is the heartbeat of the nation, all the positive things that happen in Nigeria start from Ogun State. Almost those who are making Nigeria to be great are from Ogun State. The federal government should tend towards Ogun to further enhance its progress", the HoS said.
He said the State's mission of ISEYA mantra, in terms of Infrastructural Development, Social Welfare and wellbeing, Education and Human Capital, Youth Empowerment as well as Agriculture and food security, is equally receiving the desired attention as none of the sectors of the economy is left unattended to.
While listing feats achieved under the ISEYA mantra to include, construction and rehabilitation of new and existing roads, provision of affordable housing units, creation of Ogun State Land Administration and Revenue Management System (OLARMS), expansion of state power distribution network, establishment of new waste disposal and management system, rehabilitation of Primary Health Care PHC centres in all the 237 wards of the State, equipping all state hospitals and procurement of health facilities, rehabilitation of fire stations across the State, recruitment of Ogun Teach interns, rehabilitation of public primary schools, promotion of principals, vice principals and other workers, resuscitation of MAPOLY and revival of Tai Solarin University of Education, setting up of Ogun job portal, setting up of Ogun broiler project for over 9000 youths, facilitation of access loans and seedlings to rice farmers, amongst others, the Head of Service lauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government for bringing governance closer to the people.
While showcasing the rich culture and tourism potentials of the State, Mr. Fagbohun, alluded that Ogun State is rich in all aspects and urged the participants to take advantage of the opportunity by visiting as many tourists sites as they can and taste our local foods like ofada, lafun, ebiripo, ewa aganyin, ofuloju and so on.
On her part, the Director of Studies, who is the leader of the delegation, Prof. Olufunmilayo Para-Mallam, mni, said the theme, "Industrialisation, Climate Change and Energy Security in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Prospects" was carefully chosen and the decision to execute it at Ogun State the best, because Ogun State is a pacesetter and forerunner when it comes to Industrialisation.
She added that the delegation had no regrets coming to the State and pleaded for more insights into having a detailed report at the end of the study tour.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the host Permanent Secretary from the Bureau of Political Affairs and Administration, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said the theme of the tour is key, industrialisation is very key in Ogun State as encapsulated in the ISEYA mantra and urged the participants to take advantage of the visit as Ogun is the best destination to be.
