Sources say that a number of former Nigerian state governors are on the yet-to-be-revealed ministerial list of President Bola Tinubu.
While there are reports that the ministerial list has been sent to the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu is on the brink of using up the stipulated 60-day window to unveil his cabinet members.
Section 42(a) of the constitution states that “the nomination of any person to the office of a Minister for confirmation by the Senate shall be done within sixty days after the date the President has taken the oath of office”.
Below are some of the former governors said to have been added to the list:
Nyesom Wike (Rivers former governor)
Gboyega Oyetola (Osun former governor)
Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna former governor)
David Umahi (Ebonyi former governor)
Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi former governor)
Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa former governor)
Ben Ayade (Cross River former governor)
Two other persons, though not former governors, who are claimed to be on the same list are Lateef Fagbemi, the All-Progressive Congresses (APC) team lead attorney to defend the 2023 presidential election result in court, and David Edevbie, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last general polls.
