The Senate has revealed the date President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list will be ready.
Reports have it that the list will be submitted to the Senate in the next 48 hours, Senate Majority Leader Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has said.
Bamidele made the disclosure at a birthday lecture and book presentation in Abuja on Tuesday, saying that Tinubu had personally informed him of the development earlier in the day.
According to Bamidele, Tinubu called him on the phone at around 10:03 am to say he would not be able to attend the event because he needed to focus on finalising his ministerial list.
“Let me tell you and you must encourage me, I need to make myself unavailable for the next 48 hours because a correspondence must come to the Senate, a very crucial correspondence,” Tinubu said, according to Bamidele.
Bamidele said that Tinubu asked him to tell Nigerians to pray for him so that he could make the right decisions regarding choosing his ministers.
“So Mr President prayed for me. We should tell the rest of Nigerians to pray for him to be able to make the right decision within the next 24 hours so that when Nigerians hear the list of his ministers, they will say ‘yes, this is uncommon’,” Bamidele said.
The Senate is expected to begin the confirmation process for Tinubu’s ministers once the list is submitted.
The president is constitutionally obligated to submit his ministerial list on or before Friday, July 28.
