President Bola Tinubu has departed Nairobi, Kenya, after attending the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU).
During the meeting, Tinubu announced plans to strengthen the ECOWAS Standby Force to deter coups and combat terrorism in the sub-region. He also reaffirmed Africa’s unity and strength while rejecting the notion of a new scramble for Africa.
Tinubu is expected to arrive in Nigeria soon, where he will be met with controversies surrounding his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). The most recent controversy is the alleged resignation of the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Adamu has not confirmed or denied the rumours, but he has said he will not comment on the matter until Tinubu returns from the AU meeting.
