President Bola Tinubu has concluded his visit to Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, where he attended the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government.

During the meeting, President Tinubu emerged as the new Chairperson of ECOWAS, succeeding President Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco Embalo of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

Accepting the responsibility to lead the regional body, President Tinubu emphasised the importance of collective action from member states. He pledged to harmonise frameworks and work towards realizing the goals and aspirations of ECOWAS under his leadership.

As previously reported, President Tinubu embarked on the official trip to Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, July 8, departing from Aso Rock in Abuja.

The President’s special adviser, Dele Alake, confirmed the trip and also stated that President Tinubu would return to the country after the conclusion of the meeting.
