The House of Representatives has confirmed the appointments of the service chiefs, following the adoption of the report of its ad hoc committee, which screened them.
Recall that the appointments were first announced by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023 and were asked to take up their new positions immediately.
The four service chiefs who were confirmed are:
Major-General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Chief of Defence Staff
Major-General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff
Rear Admiral Emmanuel lkechukwu Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff
Air Vice Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff
The ad hoc committee, which was headed by Julius Ihonvbere, majority leader of the house, screened the service chiefs on July 16, 2023. The committee’s report was adopted by the house on Wednesday (today).
