BE OBJECTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL, HoS URGES ASSESSORS

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, has called on shortlisted Assessors for the Extended Interview to make objectivity and professionalism their watchwords while discharging the special assignment in their hands.


The Head of Service made the call while giving an exhortation at a briefing session for the Assessors held at the Conference Room of the Civil Service Commission, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


According to him, the Assessors should be objective and professional in the way they handle the Officers, they must not carry over into the interview hall, any previous knowledge of any of the officers and must be fair in their judgment while discharging this all-important assignment.


Mr. Fagbohun urged them to make the officers comfortable while drilling them to bring the best out of them, ask the right questions at the right time, check their appearances, avoid personal views and adhere strictly to the guidelines of the Civil Service Commission so that the desires of the Civil Service can be achieved.


"Be careful in making decisions and opinions in passing judgment about them. Ensure you know the competence you are measuring them with. Look out for the right attitude in them, be objective and professional in the way you handle them and be committed so that the desires of the Public Service can be achieved ", the HoS admonished.

Giving a brief about the Session, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Adedayo Somoye, said the Assessors that were carefully selected comprise of 10 Permanent Secretaries and 10 Directors, whose vast wealth of experiences and expertise would be brought to bare to help the commission assess the 240 candidates adequately.


He revealed that the procedure for selection of eligible officers includes Essay Writing, Group Discussion, Committee Exercise, Mutual Writing and Interviews, and added that reports would be submitted at the end of the 2-day prolonged interviews.


Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi mni, while appreciating the government for putting the right peg in the right hole on the appointment of Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun as the Head of Service of Ogun State also commended the HoS through the Bureau of Establishments and Training for encouraging officers to improve on themselves by upgrading their knowledge, else, they would have remained static.


He said the need to have comprehensive extended interviews for the officers became imperative, hence, the best hands were chosen to handle the task.


Meanwhile, the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun has called on the Members of Staff of the Hospitals Management Board to continue to support the leadership of the agency, saddled with the responsibility of health management in the State, for maximum results.


The Head of Service stated this when he met the Management Team of the Board led by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olayinka Elemide, during an unscheduled visit to the Agency.


He charged them to let government's huge investment in the health sector be justified by changing their recruitment strategies to make personnel abide in the service and assured that all challenges tabled before him will be looked into.
