The speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Olakunle Oluomo ordered for the postponement of the inauguration of the 10th Assembly which is slated to hold today, 13 June, 2023.
The inauguration has been postponed till 20, June 2023.
An insider in the house, who claimed anyonimity revealed that majority of the house of assembly members-elects are not in support of Oluomo because of his serious case with EFCC and some other court cases.
According to Newsangle online, it was gathered that Hon. Elemide who is representing Odeda State Constituency is contesting against Hon. Olakunle Oluomo as to unsit him.
It was also gathered that the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun is in support of Olakunle Oluomo to return as the speaker of the House of Assembly and Hon. Lateefat Ajayi , who is representing Egbado South Constituency to be the Deputy speaker of the house of assembly.
Hon. Elemide is an ardent follower of the past governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, who is a Chieftain of APC.
The reliable source informed that the 9 PDP house of assembly members - elect are working against Oluomo because they don't want to continue with the Speaker who has is facing different court cases.
The insider further informed that because he is not enjoying the support of the majority House of Assembly members-elect directed the Clark of the house to order for the postponement of the inauguration in the middle of the night after many people from different local governments in the state and outside the state had fully prepared for the event.
