"I'm sure you know that if something is not original I will not come out to promote it. This health insurance scheme which our Governor has brought to us in Ogun State has numerous benefits. You do not need to pay out-of-pocket to access healthcare the moment you enrol.
"Countries of the world are moving towards achieving universal health coverage. Ogun State is working hard to make it possible too. One thing that would enhance the dream is this health insurance. With a monthly premium of N1,000 per person or N4,000 for a family of six, you are good to go," Adekola said.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Ogun State Health Insurance Agency , Dr. Afolabi Dosumu, said the scheme is backed by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act of 2022, which seeks to provide universal health coverage for all Nigerians, adding that each State of the country is expected to establish its health insurance scheme to achieve this goal.
Dosumu said that enrolees would enjoy preventative care, curative care, a good number of surgeries, and other forms of healthcare services in government health facilities and selected private hospitals across the State.
One of the enrolees of the Scheme, Mrs. Folasade Adekoya said health insurance was a good development as it would ensure that people no longer shy away from seeking care in hospitals because of lack of funds, saying that N1000 monthly premium for the insurance is affordable.
