Former deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, has dismissed claims that he is looking for an appointment under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, declaring that he is too old for such.
The elder statesman however noted that if he was approached or offered such, he would only assist in nominating competent individuals from his party.
George, who is not on good political terms with Tinubu, told The PUNCH that he ended his rift with the President, not for appointment, but for peace to reign, and in difference to those who intervened in the matter.
He revealed that after some senior indigenes of Lagos State and a delegation from the ruling All Progressives Congress had visited him to end the agelong dispute and solicited his support for the Tinubu government, noting that he could never have desired anything more at his age.
George also noted that he could not congratulate or visit Tinubu at the villa while his party, the PDP, was still in court challenging the outcome of the presidential election. This, he said, would amount to betrayal of his party.
