Public and Civil Servants have been assured that their contributions to the service of Ogun State can never go unappreciated, as a day of reward and recognition would always come.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, brought this to the fore at an Appreciation Luncheon/Awards, at Sagamu, organised by the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, in recognition of meritorious service rendered to the State by illustrious sons and daughters, who have served in the hospital since its inception.
Fagbohun, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Hammed Ojo, said workers who were still in the service should take cognisance of what they do, urging them to rededicate themselves in the discharge of their duties.
While congratulating the Board, Management and Staff of the hospital for organising the event, as well as the awardees for distinguishing themselves in their career, the Head of Service noted that personal sacrifice and patriotism took them to the peak.
He said, "this is a first-class gathering and it is a signal that what one is able to contribute to the system is well appreciated. This will serve as an encouragement to those in service to rededicate themselves to the service of the State".
In his remarks, the Chairman, Board of Management, OOUTH, Dr. Kunle Hassan, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for the trust reposed in him, as well as the support received from the Board Members, Heads of Departments, Unions and Staff of the institution since his assumption of office.
Dr. Hassan also commended the Governor for the choice of the immediate past HoS, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, who was the first Medical Doctor to attain the position in the Civil Service.
Giving his royal blessings, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, who doubles as the Chairman, Council of Obas, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, assured them of his readiness to always support the facility when the need arises.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Chief Medical Director, OOUTH, Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, said the event was the first of its kind and meant to express deep appreciation to all partners for their immense contributions to the success of the hospital since she assumed the leadership position.
She also appreciated the Governor for bringing in quality people who are men and women of passion as board members and added that a lot of transformation, renovation, beautification, re-roofing, expansion and construction has taken place to move the hospital to the next level.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, a former Chief Medical Director in the hospital, Dr. Alfred Jaiyesimi, thanked the State Government for the opportunity to serve unhindered as this gave them the achievements being celebrated.
Award recipients included the immediate past HoS, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal, Senior Special Assistant on Health, Dr. Kehinde Ololade, and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, Oba Ajayi, a former Chief Medical Directors, Dr. Haroun Ajibode and Prof. Aderibigbe Shonubi, and the pioneer Director of Nursing Services in the State, Mrs. Kikelomo Enaholo.
