Information Officers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been charged as image makers of government to serve conscientiously, deploy creativity in their reportage, make timeliness their watchword and continue to be the best at their various beats.
The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, gave the charge while on an unscheduled visit to the Weekly Statutory Meeting of Information Officers of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, held at the Governor's Office Press Centre, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to him, they are doing well in their assignments but there's need for improvement as this administration must be adequately promoted and all activities given the widest coverage/publicity it deserves.
While commending the Management Team of the Ministry for putting infrastructural facilities in proper shape at the centre, the HoS urged the Information Officers to make attendance at the statutory meeting a must as this is where they derive professional nourishment from.
Mr. Fagbohun admonished them to always exhibit ingenuity, be disciplined, attentive, contribute meaningfully and participate actively in all activities, especially during meetings as anyone who serves diligently cannot but be promoted and rewarded.
"Do your bit well. No one has ever served government conscientiously and has not been served. Serve government conscientiously. Don't allow anyone despise your gender, especially as women. Promote this government very well. Support those in positions of authority if you want to grow, strive to distinguish yourself and don't be lost in the crowd. Use the skills you have regularly to avoid decay. Improve yourselves and don't wait for government alone to develop you. If you do all these, you'll surely be celebrated", the HoS said.
On Internally Generated Revenue, the Head of Service urged the Ministry not to drop the ball but keep enhancing it for overall welfare improvement.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Waheed Adesina, appreciated the HoS for the surprise visit and informed of efforts at improving the Ministry since he left as Permanent Secretary some years back.
According to him, activities introduced include a 5-minute reportage of major government events tagged "RIYE VOICES", dedication of the back page of the flagship paper of the Ministry, 'Ogun Update' for showcasing ISEYA acronym activities, packaging of documentaries to LGAs, amongst others.
In attendance at the meeting were all Directors and Deputy Directors in the Ministry.
