HoS INAUGURATES COMMITTEE ON PHC UNDER-ONE-ROOF

The Committee on Primary Health Care (PHC) Under-One-Roof has been charged to ensure that all resources in the State's Primary Health Care are put together under the Primary Health Care Development Board in order to take care of all concerned at a point.

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun gave the charge while inaugurating a 9-man committee who have been saddled with the responsibility of actualising the objectives of having the PHC Under-One-Roof in the State.

According to him, the project is over due for commencement in the State and the government is passionate about it that's why all the necessary machinery has been set in motion, while particular attention is being given to the health care system and great emphasis laid on the upgrading of PHC facilities since the inception of this administration.

"PHC Under-One-Roof is a project that is overdue and we have been on it for some years and today, we are taking a very big step forward to actualise its objectives. The State Government is passionate about it and the essence is to put all resources together in order to give PHC the necessary attention it deserves in our health care delivery system and since inception of this administration, emphasis has been on upgrading of PHC facilities, what remains is the human resource aspect that needs to come together, that's why the governor has graciously approved that all the staff in our primary health care facilities should come together under one roof, under the Primary Health Care Development Board so that all can be taken care of at a point", the Head of Service explained.

He urged the committee to ensure the process takes place with less pain, allay the fears of all critical stakeholders and in handling careers, must be above board, not partisan, shun favouritism, know that people are watching and efforts would be evaluated at the end of the day, while the manner the assignment is handled will determine its success or otherwise.

The Head of Service implored them to run with the Terms of Reference for the project which include: To re-organise the directorates of the Agency, in line with the recommendations and restructuring proposed in the report, taking into cognisance seniority, hierarchy and merit. To set in motion the implementation of the policy on PHC Under-One-Roof in Ogun State as enshrined in the National Primary Health Care Act 2010. To integrate all Local Government Primary Health Care Employees into Ogun State PHC Board, with some exemptions particularly for those on verge of retirement, among others.

Adding her voice, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker said the inaugurated committee should make efficient service delivery to the people of the State their watchword as PHC is key to this administration and the workforce must stay healthy at all times, while quality health care must be brought to their doorsteps with little funding.
