The various digital technology programmes of Ogun State Government have been described as a worthwhile initiative, which had helped break inter-generational cycles of poverty among youths and women through access to education, training, marketing, jobs, health and safety, among others.
A 25-year-old Fiyinfoluwa Ogunleye, who benefitted from the free AboCoders training classes by the State Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) and a Non-Governmental Organisation (Aspilos Foundation), said the programme had transformed her career as a Linguist to Data Analyst.
Ogunleye stated that the quality of the training was of international standard and hands-on-practical in a serene environment for learning, adding that the knowledge she acquired at Ogun Tech Hub made her proceed for a Master’s degree programme in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics.
According to her, "I did my Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literary Studies. I was opportuned to partake in the AboCoders training classes and it made me become an international Data Analyst and presently working with one of the leading digital firms’’.
She commended the effort of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for establishing Ogun Tech Hub, with the determination to tap the potential of youths to become digital entrepreneurs.
Lending her voice, the Director of Standard Regulations, Planning and Research, BIT, Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte said the Bureau had transformed the lives of youths and women from job seekers to Tech entrepreneurs.
Adekunte revealed that its outstanding achievements had earned the State government award of Best State on e-Government Implementation 2022, Overall second best State on ICT Development 2020, Best State in ICT Penetration and Adoption 2019, Best State in ICT Infrastructure Development 2019, Second runner up award in ICT Human Capital Development 2019, to mention a few.
She called on youths to always visit Ogun tech hub for career development in digital Technology as Fiyinfoluwa was one out of hundreds who had benefitted from the digital transformation agenda of Governor Abiodun.
