BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, HoS URGES WORKERS

Administrative Officers in the Ogun State Civil/Public Service have been told that they have a responsibility on themselves to personally develop in order to shine amongst peers.

The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, stated this while having an official meeting with Administrative Officers from GL 08-12 at the Conference Hall of the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to him, the Officers must have personal development plans that will boost their career, must be mature, be able to keep confidence, and must be knowledge seekers who strive to interprete their roles appropriately and correctly while discharging statutory responsibilities.

He said since these Officers are still in their formative years, they must be continually moulded to become desirable, wonderful officers whom the future of the Civil Service can be committed to and minds of the forebears would be at rest.

"Your knowledge, expertise and overall development will stand you out, when you add value in any agency you find yourselves, you will be respected for who you are. Don't comport yourselves in a manner people will like you but will respect you, don't let people love you but respect and fear you for the power you will deploy to handle and surmount all challenges before you", the HoS advised.

Mr. Fagbohun called on them to always manage the resources at their disposals well, strive to interprete circulars correctly in order not to set the service on fire, not to cultivate the habit of competing or out-shining superior officers but above all, package themselves as serious minded officers who are ever ready to uplift the Civil Service and the State at large.

He urged them to always dress well and not in a way that will offend the sensibility of others because as Civil Servants, they are serving the people and what the Civil Service stands for must not be comprised for anything.

Adding their voices, the Permanent Secretaries, Bureaux of Establishments and Training, Public Service Reforms and Service Matters, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, Mr. Jola Oyeneye and Mr. Hammed Ojo, charged the Officers to always have the right minds towards work, be punctual and not leave before closing time, be loyal to superiors and the government and should not get popular for the wrong reasons but must get popular for the right reasons in their career.

In a welcome address, the Coordinator, the Administrative Officers' Group, Mrs. Roseline Jacobs, urged the officers to always be positive in all they do, be role models to everyone around them in all things and be encouraged to move round all agencies to garner more experience that will give them an edge and make them more professional while discharging their statutory duties.

Meanwhile, the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun received in audience  the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State Branch led by its Chairman, Comrade Waheed Oloyede, the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists, Ogun State Branch led by Pharmacist Oladapo Amusa and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council led by Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, who were on congratulatory visits to the office of the Head of Service.
