AREPO ROAD CONSTRUCTION HAS REDUCED PREGNANCY LOSS-WOMEN GROUP

Governor Dapo Abiodun has again been given a pat on the back for constructing several roads across the State. The commendation this time around came from a group, Women Radio Journalists, led by the Chief Executive Officer of Women Radio, Mrs. Toun Okewole-Sonaiya

Mrs. Okewole-Sonaya who led 20 other women radio journalists undergoing training in investigative journalism during a courtesy call on a courtesy call on the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta revealed that the rehabilitation of Arepo road by Governor Abiodun had greatly reduced the incidence of pregnancy loss and constant sickness rampant among women in the before the rehabilitation.

The Chief Executive Officer of the first women radio station in the country added that the rehabilitation of the road by the present administration had also increased the value of properties and impacted positively on the living conditions of the people in the area.

She also commended Governor Abiodun for introducing Oko’wo Dapo, a micro-credit finance scheme for womenfolk across the State which she said had enhanced their businesses, appealing that more funds should be pumped into the scheme so that more women would benefit.

Speaking on the training programme for women journalists, Mrs. Okewole-Sonaya declared that the desire to have more women journalists is borne out of the fact that women are in a better position to report activities involving them, and to make them better investigative journalists.

In his remark, Alhaji Odusile said Governor Abiodun was passionate to improve the livelihood of the citizenry, noting that the administration was intensifying efforts to leave no stone unturned at ensuring that the dividends of democracy get to all nooks and crannies of the State.

Odusile, while lauding the initiative of the organisation, enjoined the trainees to be prepared at all times, adhere to the ethics of journalism, get accurate facts in their reportage, be creative and ready for the task ahead, adding that the newsroom has no regard for gender.

‘’I want to charge you to be safety conscious in the discharge of your duties, because it is only the living that can tell the story for there are no living heroes’’, the Commissioner said.
