Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has felicitated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), as it celebrates the fifth-year anniversary of its establishment.
Abiodun, in his congratulatory message during a parade walk made to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Moshood Abiola Stadium Abeokuta, to commemorate the anniversary, said the Scheme had lived up to expectations.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, congratulated the corps members who partook in the walk and wish them well in all their future endeavours.
He said, "this is our nation, it belongs to all of us, the building our future together agenda in Ogun State could not be overemphasised. All of you have individual roles to play in the development of our towns, communities and cities, so you need to do everything humanly possible as the leaders of tomorrow to ensure the success of the agenda".
Abiodun emphasised that his administration would continue to support and provide an enabling environment for the promotion of activities of the NYSC, noting that, "as a responsible government, our programmes on youth development and empowerment ranked first among other States of the federation because we provide invaluable tools for the effective drive of the socio-economic development of our dear State".
In her response, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka commended the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun for the initiatives on youth development and support for the agency’s programme in the State.
