Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will go a long way in generating more employment opportunities, reducing crimes and making life more meaningful for the citizens of the country.
The President, Yewa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (YECCIMA), Alhaji Wasiu Taiwo made this known while speaking with newsmen in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, stating that SMEs were capable of engendering growth and a pedestal for job creation that had sustainable opportunities.
Alhaji Taiwo implored both the Federal and State Governments to provide more funds to them to further expand their businesses and boost economic growth and development across the country.
He noted that the Chamber would not relent in contributing its quota to the growth of SMEs and promised to continually partner with the government towards engaging youths in productive ventures that would engender the socio-economic development of the State.
According to him, "the government through the CBN should step up its interventions in funding the small and medium scale enterprises. This will create jobs and raise the standard of living of the people. Effective funding of the small and medium scale enterprises will drastically reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country".
