TRUST IN OUR GOVT HAS BUILT CONFIDENCE IN PRIVATE SECTOR PARTICIPATION- ABIODUN

Ogun State Governor says his government has benefited from the contribution of the private sector due to the trust they have in the present administration.

Prince Abiodun stated this during the Special Iftar with the theme: “Trust, an Indispensable Tool for National Development” held at Arcade Ground of the Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Governor noted that gaining and sustaining the trust of its citizens was fundamental to the economic development of the State and the country as a whole, assuring that he would maintain the tempo noting that public office is about trust.

He said, “Trust is reciprocal  as people of the State have confidence in the  decision of the government to provide services and protect them for the fact that it is for their use. Today, the private sector has started partnering with our administration in building roads, Special Agro-processing Zones, other infrastructure, such as schools, primary healthcare centers, donating ambulances, and many more, a development that was never the case in the past”.

Abiodun noted that the hosting of the annual Ramadan Iftar was an opportunity to give thanks to Almighty God for all he has done, for him and his government, for religious tolerance, towards ensuring peace, security and unity among the people of the State.

Speaking on the theme, a renowned Islamic Scholar and Professor in the Department of Islamic Law, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Prof. AbdulRazaq AbdulMajeed Alaro, said any nation that desires development must invest in material, human and social capital, calling on  leaders at all levels of government to priortise  the social welfare and wellbeing of the people.

Prof. Alaro emphasised the need for trust to exist between the governed and the government, as well as the people of the country, commending Governor Dapo Abiodun for ensuring the continuous hosting of the lecture.

He admonished the people of the country not to look at the clan, religion or origin of the leadership at the helm of affairs in the country, but to have trust in them.

Dignitaries in attendance include, traditional rulers, political office holders, representatives of the League of Imams and Alfas, religious organisations, market men and women, serving and retired civil servants, among others.
