In a bid to avert demolition of structures in Ogun State, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPl. Olatunji Odunlami said commencement of building construction without a building authorisation from its Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA), is illegal.
Tpl. Odunlami revealed this while speaking on the Letter of Authorisation issued to Nestle Nigeria Plc, flower gate factory, along Sagamu Expressway after an inspection visit to the company construction site by the OGBPMA team, led by its Acting General Manager, Engr. Olakunle Oladiran.
The Commissioner stated that the directive was in compliance with the Building Production Management Regulations 2022, disclosing that developers were expected to notify OGBPMA through a Letter of Intent, seven days before the commencement of building construction.
In his remark, Engr. Oladiran commended Nestle Plc, for abiding by the OGBPMA building regulations, saying it was the responsibility of the agency to ensure that buildings were built rightly with quality materials and under the supervision of qualified professionals in the built industry
