HoS TASKS FORESTRY MINISTRY TO LEVERAGE MODERN TECHNOLOGY

 



          The need to leverage technology for proper monitoring and preservation of government forest reserves, as well as protecting forest guards against hoodlums and unscrupulous elements has been emphasised.


          Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun made this known during a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, by the management team of the Ministry of Forestry led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi,


          Mr. Fagbohun said forestry was critical to the State’s economic emancipation and key to the ‘ISEYA’ mantra of the present administration, adding that the new trend in managing forestry sector for effectiveness should be properly tapped and utilised.


          He stated that, ‘’forestry is not just to generate income for the State but to provide an enabling environment for both biotic and abiotic elements. So, it is essential for your Ministry to harness the opportunities embedded in 21st century technology”.


          The Head of Service applauded the agency for working in collaboration with other line Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, as well as corporate and Non-Governmental Organisations in curbing illegalities in the reserves, urging the management staff to impact their communities in tree planting.


          Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi congratulated the HoS on his appointment and assured him that the management and staffers of the Ministry would put in more effort in the implementation of government policies and programmes, to generate more revenue, as well as ensure that various trees species are planted to attract a healthy environment for the people of the state and its environs. 


          Meanwhile, the Head of Service has urged managers of organisations to create more values in their decision-making, for them to be relevant in the administration of human affairs.


          He stated this in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, while playing host to the Body of General Managers and Chief Executive Officers of Parastatals and Government-owned Companies, as well as the National and State Executive members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), who came to congratulate him on his appointment.


          Mr. Fagbohun said, “it takes skills to manage lives, as those who create and add values in whatever they do can never be forgotten and will forever be relevant”.


          Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Body of General Managers, who is the Corps Commander/Chief Executive Officer of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Commander ‘Seni Ogunyemi and the National President, CIPM, Mr. Mojeed Olusegun commended the Head of Service for the warm welcome, saying their visitation was to identify with him and to pledge their support in his new assignment.


           The Head of Service also received delegations from the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), the Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), the Body of Head Teachers-General, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, National Association of Livestock Husbandry, Scientists and Technologists of Nigeria, Ogun West Public Service Forum, among others.
