The new Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Obafemi Saliu, has been charged to utilize his new position to influence credible ideas and prospects that could bring about developmental gaits in the town and its environs, in order to justify the mandate and trust reposed in him.
Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the charge at the Installation and Presentation of Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the new monarch in Ogere, Ikenne Local Government Area of the State.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Abiodun noted that traditional rulers are considered as partners-in-progress, urging the monarch to continue to champion all efforts that could promote peaceful co-existence between his people and neighbouring townships, to achieve the growth and development being craved by the people.
The Governor, said; “I want to urge Kabiyesi to mobilize your people at home and in the diaspora to come together for the enhancement of the socio-economic development of Ogere Remo. You have to be a father, you are expected to be accessible, receptive and responsive to your people as demanded”.
Governor Abiodun assured that his administration would continue to contribute to the progress of traditional institutions, considering their advisory role, as a result of their long-standing native intelligence, experience and proximity to the grassroots, adding, that their efforts have contributed massively to the growth and development the administration have recorded since inception.
In his welcome address, Executive Chairman, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun Ogunleye, admonished the people of Ogere Remo to cooperate and support their new monarch to enjoy a speedy development that could expose their town to greater opportunities.
Remarking, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Adewale Ajayi, represented by Ebi of Idena, Oba Lukman Salami enjoined Oba Saliu to extend magnanimity in victory to all and sundry in the town by reconciling all contending parties during the selection process.
In his acceptance speech, Oba James Saliu appreciated Governor Abiodun for allowing him to serve in the capacity of a monarch in Ogere, calling on all the sons and daughters of the town to join hands with him for the growth and development of the town.
