ORGANISED LABOUR COMMENDED ON CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP

 



The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has showered encomium on the organised labour for its cordial relationship with his administration which has contributed to  the progress of the entire State.


Governor Abiodun who stated this while declaring open the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), 2023 State Delegate Conference, held at the congress secretariat, Abeokuta, described the maturity exhibited by the outgoing leadership as top notch.


 Represented by the Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, Abiodun charged members of the union to cooperate with the new leadership, encouraging them to also work in harmony with the Government.


"I want to commend the leadership of organized labour, the NLC, JNC and TUC for showing tremendous understanding and for working together with the State Government. The maturity the organised labour brought to the table during negotiations is top notch and I will like to encourage the incoming leadership to follow the same step to have a robust engagement with the Government", he said.


In his address, the outgoing Chairman of NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, called for peaceful co-existence among members, saying they should move on and continue protecting the union towards better working conditions.


He appreciated the State government for prioritising workers’ welfare, imploring the present administration to redouble its commitment to the wellbeing of public servants, especially on the issue of contributory pension, arrears on total deduction and gratuity.


In his goodwill message, the Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ogun State Office, Mr. Itemoagbo Eshomounu, said the congress’ election must not be seen as an end in itself but a means to serve and better the welfare of members.


Speaking on behalf of other executive members, the newly elected Chairman of NLC,  Comrade Hameed Benco Ademola, said the wish of the entire workers would be their priority, promising to work in harmony with the Government to move labour to an enviable height.
