The Executive Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) Dr. Femi Majekodunmi has described the ongoing 2021/2022 promotion interviews for primary school teachers across the four divisions of the State, as a way to appraise their performances for career progression.
Dr. Majekodunmi disclosed this while addressing the teaching staff at the promotion interview centers in Abeokuta and Sagamu, saying the step was aimed at ensuring the simultaneous participation of all eligible teaching and non-teaching staff in the exercise.
According to him, "the ongoing promotion interview is one of the ways in which the present administration decided to put a smile on the faces of teachers across the State. I know that you have been expecting it for a long time. Gone are the days when teachers were owed promotions, but now, the story has changed. The Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government had cleared the backlog of promotions, and this shows that the present government placed prominence on teachers' needs. I know that this will boost your morale".
He expressed satisfaction with the smooth running of the exercise in all divisions, assuring participants of the State government prompt release of promotion letters to successful officers after the conclusion of the interview.
Describing them as key pillars in public service, the SUBEB Chairman encouraged teachers to continue to display professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Responding, some of the participants at the venue of the interviews, Mrs. Oluwakemi Ayedun from Radev Early Education Center, Iberekodo, Abeokuta, and Mr. Idowu Soneye of St Paul’s School II, Makun, Sagamu, lauded the efforts of the Governor for prioritising teachers’ welfare, particularly the approval of the promotion exercise.
