Ogun State Government has presented four 18-seater Buses to the four Traditional Councils in Remo, Ijebu, Yewa, and Egba divisions in fulfillment of its promise to the institutions, to ease their movement.
The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who presented the buses to the Chairman of the State Council of Obas, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of RemoLand, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, in his palace at Sagamu, said his administration would continue to hold the institution in high esteem, knowing their enormous contributions to the socio-economic development and security in the State.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Prince Abiodun, assured that the present government would not relent in its efforts at providing necessary support for the Councils to adequately perform their responsibilities to the people of the State.
He said, “The relationship between this administration and the traditional institution has been cordial and we will not rest on our oars in providing necessary support for them at all times, to enable them fulfill their fatherly responsibilities to the people”.
Responding, Oba Ajayi appreciated Governor Abiodun for keeping to his promise to the traditional rulers, noting that the government had displayed fairness, justice, and equity in the delivery of dividends of democracy.
It would be recalled that the Governor presented 20 vehicles to the monarchs at their last statutory meeting of the Council of the Obas, with the promise to extend the gesture to the four councils.
