OGSG ASSURES NABTEB OF CONTINUED SYNERGY

In its determination to achieve competence among technicians and artisans, the Ogun State Government has assured the National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) of continued synergy, particularly on the Modular Trade Certificate.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa gave the assurance, while playing host to NABTEB team, led by its National Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Prof. Odemuyiwa said the initiative of the Board would go a long way in assisting artisans and others who wish to upgrade their skills for the purpose of employment and upward mobility of job, noting that NABTEB had created an avenue for qualitative technical and vocational education to thrive in the country.

According to him, "so many people do not know that NABTEB is equivalent to West Africa Examination Council (WASSCE), and National Examination Council (NECO), both are like colleagues".

The Governor's aide hinted that Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), had bridged the gap that made many youths unemployed, affirming that NABTEB as a Federal Government body had impacted both formal and the informal sectors.

He said, "Ogun State is leading other States in the crusade to ensure that technical and vocational education is part of our tertiary institution’s curriculum in Nigeria. As you graduate from any University, Polytechnic and College of Education, you will possess a certificate and competence in a particular skill that you have learnt in the course of your programme", Odemuyiwa said.

In her speech, Isiugo-Abanihe appreciated Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its unflinching support to the Board, which she said had made Ogun stand out among its peers in the country.

The NABTEB boss stated that, ‘’the Board certificate goes beyond acquiring skill, but also offers assessment and qualification both at the ordinary and advanced level of education’’.

Also in attendance were the NABTEB Coordinators for Ogun and Oyo States, Mr. Abimbola Olaniregun and Mrs. Serifat Adefunke respectively, as well as two Chief Examiner Officers in Ogun, Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi and Mrs. Sarah Adoghe.
