The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, has described the State’s outgoing Head of Service, Dr Nafiu Olatunde Aigoro, as a pride to the medical profession as he made history with his appointment as the first health personnel to become the Head of Service in Ogun State.
This assertion was made by Dr Coker, at a reception organised by the Ogun State Health Sector in honour of the outgoing Head of Service, in Abeokuta.
The Commissioner, who is a fellow alumnus of the University of Ibadan, said the outgoing Head of Service had demonstrated hard work since his undergraduate days.
"As an obstetrician and gynaecologist, I can attest to the skillfulness of Dr. Aigoro on the job as an orthopaedic surgeon. He epitomises hard work. That is the reason for his historic elevation by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun who appointed him on November 8, 2021, as the first medical personnel to become the Head of Service in Ogun State, " Coker said.
She said that the administrative prowess of Dr. Aigoro helped her to have a good grasp of public service during her early days in office as the Commissioner.
"Fate has brought Dr. Aigoro my way all along. My mother was his French teacher in those days before I met him in the College of Medicine and here in the Civil Service when he was the Permanent Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board.
Responding, the outgoing Head of Service, Dr. Aigoro appreciated the leadership of the health sector for deeming it fit to put the reception together just as he encouraged the workforce to continue to be loyal to the State government.
Representatives of the Ministry of Health, Hospitals Management Board, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, Ogun State Agency Against Aids, as well as the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board, old friends from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, family members, among others, took their turn to speak glowingly on how Dr. Aigoro had impacted their lives and professional practice.
