The Actualisation of good governance and the ‘ISEYA’ mantra of the present administration in Ogun State has been ascribed to the dedication, commitment and diligence of Public Servants in the State.
Governor Dapo Abiodun made this declaration during a special reception organised in honour of the First Medical Doctor and Orthopaedic Surgeon, to become the State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro and six retired Permanent Secretaries, stating that Civil Servants were important builders and the engine room of the State government.
The Governor said the achievements recorded in the last three years and ten months could not have been possible without the support and perseverance of the Public Servants, assuring that his administration would continue to make the welfare of workers in the State a priority, so as to guarantee industrial harmony.
"Let me reiterate that this administration will make the welfare of workers a priority and resolve all outstanding issues. We have cleared the backlog of promotions inherited from the last administration, coupled with the prompt payment of salaries and allowances. I am sure some of our Civil Servants have started receiving Leave Bonuses alongside their monthly salaries, for the months of January and February 2023 in fulfilment of our promises", he said.
The State helmsman described Dr. Aigoro, as an administrator of great repute who was calm, conscientious and dependable, congratulating him and all other retired Permanent Secretaries as they join the class of elder Statesmen, saying his administration would always count on their wealth of experience.
The Governor affirmed that "It is a known fact that our outgoing Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro has not only served the State meritoriously but has equally left his imprint in the course of service to our dear State. I, therefore, urge you all to emulate his footstep”.
In his remark, Dr. Aigoro appreciated God for his guidance as the first medical doctor to attain the height, commending the Civil Servants for their unalloyed support while admonishing them not to relent on their oars.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Olukunle Sodehinde, lauded Governor Abiodun for giving them the opportunity to serve and contribute their quota under his administration, congratulating him on his re-election victory.
The six other retired Permanent Secretaries are TPL. Yetunde Dina, Mr. Hassan Adekunle, Dr. Dotun Sorunke, Mr. Olurotimi Sotunbo and Estate Surveyor Jubril Lukan.
