The Apex body of the Social Investment Assistants which was recently put in place by Governor Dapo Abiodun has said that it will make the common people feel that they are directly part of the government.

The body said that the appointment has never been recorded in the history of the state, adding that the current administration really means well for the good people of the state.

The State Coordinator of the Social Investment Assistants, Mr Adeosun Azeez disclosed this in a press conference held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He noted that the responsibilities of the Social Investment Assistants is to work towards ensuring equitable distribution of resources to the vulnerable in ogun localities.

Mr Adeosun added the function of the body is to help achieve the desired result which is a call to service for the benefit of the people of Ogun state.

He said "My warm regards to the political leaders, the good people of Ogun state, Honourable colleagues, gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen. I welcome you all to this historic press conference organized by the Apex body of the recently appointed Social Investment Assistants by the caring and loving Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR.

" You will recall that out of great concern for the welfarism of the people of Ogun state, His Excellency appointed some people as the Social Investment Assistants across the state which is in line with the Social Investment Programme of the state government. 

"Based on the appointment letter, the responsibilities of the Social Investment Assistants include:To work towards ensuring equitable distribution of resources to the vulnerable in our localities.To identify sectors and areas that needs government intervention at the grassroot and work collaboratively towards addressing the noted issues. 

"To inform and sensitize the general public about government poverty alleviation programmes and policies.And all order duties as may be assigned by His Excellency, the Governor. 

"We have to make it clear that wholeheartedly, all appointees accepted this with an overwhelming joy. It is never taken for granted knowing fully well that nothing of such an appointment has ever been recorded in the history of the state. 

"It makes the common people feel that they are directly part of this government.In this regard, the Apex Body of the aforementioned appointees is hereby constituted. This is necessary in order to help achieve the desired result which is a call to service for the benefit of the people of Ogun state. Through the Apex Body, we now have a well-organized structure from the state to local government, ward and polling booth level. 

"The coordinators of each level shall immediately swing into action by effectively carrying out the assignments ahead of us. In the same vein, the Apex Body now deems it fit to make use of our structure to mobilize and influence votes in all our localities through what we tag “door to door campaign movement”. 

"His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, has declared the distribution of food palliatives to over 400,000 Ogun state people in order to ease the suffering caused by the scarcity of the new naira notes and petrol.

" On this note, on behalf of the good people of Ogun state who will benefit from this kind gesture, we say a big thank you to His Excellency, the Governor. Finally, we cannot but appreciate the State Organizing Secretary, in person of Mr. Yemi Adelani (IGWE), for his support towards ensuring that all what we do are in accordance with the laid down programmes of the state government.
