SHORTAGE OF EXPERIENCED ARTISANS AFFECTING BUILT INDUSTRY......PROFESSIONALS

 



Build professionals in the Ogun State Government employ have attributed shortage of experience artisans in the industry as one of the factors affecting quality of buildings.


The professionals comprising of Builders, Architects, Civil and Structural Engineers, Quantity and Estate Surveyors and Valuer led by Builder Titilayo Oladogbon, expressed  this while  presenting the Draft Building Code before the management of the Ministry of Housing at the conference hall Oke- Mosan Abeokuta.


She said the presentation of the Building code was to ensure a workable building process where certain measures would be put in place, including land survey, Documentations, Proper layout and compensation where necessary.


The Professional  therefore, call on State government to establish a Training School for artisans for the betterment of built industry.


She added that the in - house presentation on Draft Building code would also give room for professionals to add their input on the Building code before it gets to the executive for its assent saying Ogun State will be second after Lagos to  present the Draft Building  code among the 36 States. 


In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of  Housing, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam  said it was very important for the. Professionals to be guided and exposed to relevant principles to be abreast of  recent development in the building industry .


Speaking on behalf of  the Management, the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Ministry of  Housing, Arc. Sulaimon Oladipupo said the gathering was timely adding that the suggestions profered will help in the implementation of government projects.
