Promotion of cultural heritage has been described as a veritable tool for the economic development of the nation.
The Ewusi of Makun in sagamu local government, Oba Timothy Akinsanya stated this at the 25th Obaruwa festival of Arts and Culture tagged: Promoting Our Cultural heritage for a Secured Future.
Oba Akinsanya noted that there is urgent need to re-orientate the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow in order to secure their future, adding that all agents of socialization such as parents, extended family, schools, religious organization has a major role to play in this area.
He recalled that parents used to instill discipline into their children in the olden days which allowed them to be cautious about their actions in order not to tarnish the image of their homes, family and the society at large.
The monarch explained that the Obaruwa festival was aimed at binging all Makun Indigenes both home and abroad together especially the youths on a yearly basis to facilitate and share ideas on how to move the community, the state and by extension the society forward for a Secured Future.
Speaking on his view on the present administration in the state, Oba Akinsanya commended the government for trying it's best to encourage ever distribution of dividend of democracy, calling on the people to continue to support the government to enjoy more dividend of democracy.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman 2023 Obaruwa planning Committee, Otunba Adebowale Atoloye called for the support of the state government through the ministry of culture and tourism to incorporate Makun troupe to the existing cultural troupes in the state, adding that this would avail Makun Indigenes the opportunity to contribute to the development of culture and tourism in the state.
In his remarks, the chairman of the day, Aare Adetola Emmanuel King, the Akile of Makun kingdom represented by the director of Legal unit of Adron Homes, Barr Oluwakemi Osude encouraged people to continue to promote the Cultural heritage by speaking their dialect in such a gathering in order not to allow our culture to go into extinsion, advising people to continue to support the government at all levels in the promotion of the Cultural heritage for a Secured Future.
