Top management staff members in the Ogun State Civil/Public Service have been called upon to continue to lead by example, pay periodic checks on their subordinates, and ensure their good welfare while at work.
The Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro made the call while on an unscheduled familiarisation visit to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the State Government in Abeokuta.
According to him, those saddled with the responsibility of leadership must not only be interested in work output but also have keen interest in the welfare of their staff members; calling on them to remain dutiful as this is what will make them to be able to monitor punctuality, absenteeism among the workers.
Dr. Aigoro said the visit was unscheduled in order for him to see the workforce in its raw state and expressed deep satisfaction with all that he met on ground, that the workers really displayed good conducts worthy of emulation and called on them to keep such up.
At the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Board Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Kuye, who received the Head of Service expressed appreciation to him for the visit that caught them unawares, and said it is a pointer for them to always be up and doing as repeat of such should be expected any time.
At the Office of the Auditor General for Local Government, Dr. Aigoro described the work environment as acceptable and second to none, with a charge on the workers to keep the flag flying.
Received by the Auditor General for Local Government, Mr. Lamidi Mulero, Dr. Aigoro assured that the government would continue to make workers' welfare its priority by surmounting all the challenges tabled before him.
At the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Head of Service was received by the Chairman, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, who expressed sincere appreciation to the Visitor for the crop of good hands he's privileged to lead, and assured of continued working relationship.
The Head of Service urged the agency to continue in its stride to generate revenue so that government can keep doing more for the people, that he's there to encourage, support and commend them for discharging their duties with utmost professionalism.
He stopped by at the driver's license section where he was received by the Sector Head, Driver's License, Ogun State, Officer Sunday Adeyemi, who pledged continued collaboration between the government and the workers.
Also, at the Ministry of Transportation and the Bureau of Local Government Pensions, the Head of Service, who was received by the Permanent Secretaries, Mrs. Olusola Osasona and Mrs. Olubukola Adeniregun, commended the leadership for creating an enabling environment to work, saying it was a model for modern conducive work environment and admonished the staffers to reciprocate the good gesture by delivering on the mandate they are saddled with.
On the entourage was the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Hammed Ojo, as well as all directors from the Bureau.
The visit was in continuation of the unscheduled visits to MDAs in the Ogun State government service by the Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, as part of measures to see to how the workers were faring in their various MDAs.
