In a bid to improve the living conditions of women of the State, the Ogun State government through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has given out empowerment tools to 15 Women Cooperative Groups and few individuals.
The Hon. Commissioner in the ministry, Mrs Funmilayo Efuwape, who made the presentation at Women Development Center, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta urged the beneficiaries to gladly accept the gestures as an end of the year gifts to states by the federal ministry of Women Affairs in the last quarters of the year.
Efuwape appreciated the Federal Minister for Women Affairs, Mrs Dame Tallen Paul for not forgetting the good people of the state, saying the empowerment tools would make life more meaningful for the women.
She said "the Ogun State government under the leadership of His Excellence, prince Dapo Abiodun has earlier embarked on many capacity building projects for women of the state, which included empowering five thousand female entrepreneurs across the state, enabling them have access to finance, as well as scaling up their businesses, empowering two thousand five hundred rural women across the state through the provision of products worth ₦100 million, empowerment of over three thousand youths through vocational training, while four hundred others are still undergoing vocational training at the at the Women Development Centre , Oke ilewo, Abeokuta. He also empowered five hundred women across the three senatorial districts through the re-launch of Okowo Dapo".
The Commissioner thereafter implored the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity given them stressing that every item given them should be seen as important and could generate income for their livelihood.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Melutia Ogunremi in her remarks appreciated the Federal Minister for her kind gesture in equipping the state to actualize the mandate of the ministry, especially in the area of women empowerment.
Ogunremi added that improving the living condition of women in Ogun State is one of the utmost priorities of His Excellence, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
In her vote of thanks, the Director of Women Empowerment, Mrs Wonuola Kazeem stated that the ministry in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Abuja has to accommodate more women in the state in it's empowerment programs.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of all cooperative groups who benefited from the kind gesture, Mrs Adeyeye, President of Itesiwaju Cooperative Group, appreciated the state government as well as the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, promising that they would make wealth out of the items.
