The Ogun State Director, Central Department of Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mr. David Onigbinde said the agency is committed to ensuring that quality projects and programmes are delivered in conformity with the laid down standards and procedures.
Onigbinde gave the assurance while rounding off a monitoring and evaluation exercise of government projects executed by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for the year 2022 across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
The Director pointed out that the exercise commenced early in the year and was part of the statutory schedule of the department, aimed at conducting an on-the-spot professional assessment, to ascertain the quality of job done, and measure the expected outcomes and its relative impacts on the host beneficiaries.
He added that the exercise also accorded the team the opportunity to evaluate completed projects, saying the government would not relent in ensuring that taxpayers’ money was judiciously managed and accounted for.
According to him, "this last phase of our monitoring and evaluation exercise took the monitoring team to project sites in Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ilishan, Iperu, and Ilaro township areas where rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads, renovation of Primary Health Care facilities and schools of Nursing/Midwifery, as well as housing schemes and logistic support to farmers, through the provision of cocoa seedlings were inspected and some beneficiaries were sampled’’.
On his part, a Subject Matter Expert in the State Housing Corporation, Engr. Opeoluwa Bajomo said most of the projects evaluated were satisfactorily executed in line with best practices and work schedules, while the needed amendments were pointed out to the contractors for corrections.
In their responses, some residents of the areas where the projects were situated, appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the impactful programmes and policies.
