The Nigerian Medical Association, Ogun State Branch has been commended for improving on its yearly activities and coming up with unprecedented innovations in all its undertakings.
The Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, gave the commendation at the Annual End of Year Thanksgiving activities put together by the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria: HMB and Ministry of Health (MDCAN HMB/MOH), Ogun State Chapter, held at the NMA House, Lukosi, Abeokuta.
According to him, the unprecedented innovations, among which is the essay competition, with the theme "Effective Healthcare Delivery in the Phase of Dwindling Manpower: Bridging the Gap", introduced by the association to put the medical practitioners on their tabs is a right step in the right direction and worthy of accolades; with a charge to them to continue to live up to the ethics of the profession.
He appreciated the organisers for setting the day aside for its members to unwind and interact among themselves after a whole year's hectic demands and sought for frequent interactions to ease tensions.
"It's a day of interaction, I'm always happy to join my colleagues to enjoy ourselves, as it's a once in a year affair. You're improving on your activities and also coming up with innovations, I appreciate you for these." Dr. Aigoro said.
On their parts, the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Dr. Quudus Yusuf, and the Chairman, NMA, Ogun State Branch, Dr. Azim Ashimi lauded the organisers of the essay competition with a charge on parents, teachers, mentors, tutors etc to always support and encourage any intellectual work and not serve as stumbling blocks to these young generation of professionals who are keenly interested in self development in this area.
Earlier, the Chairmen, Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the event, Dr. Temitope Yomibo-Sofolahan and Dr. Deborah Osisanwo, said the event had been on since 2018 and aimed at making members to collaborate, interact, unwind and relax together after a year's activities outside the hospital premises where their entire lives revolve.
Highlights of the programme was presentation of gifts to the HoS, relaxing with all sorts of indoor games, dances and so on.
In attendance was the Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal, Senior Special Assistant on Health, Dr. Kehinde Ololade, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladeinde, as well as consultants from the State Hospital.
