The new Atawa of Latawa, Oba Rotimi Oyefolu has been tasked to focus on speedy socio-economic development of his town and mobilise his subjects to continue to support the present administration by performing their civic duties as and when due.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave the charge at the Installation and Presentation of Staff of Office to the new Monarch in Latawa, Sagamu Local Government Area, saying prompt payment of approved taxes, rates and levies was required for the provision of social amenities and general development of the State.
Represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, the Governor said the event was another testimony of the commitment of the present administration towards ensuring that traditional institution continues to take their rightful position in governance.
Abiodun urged Oba Oyefolu to intensify efforts at promoting peace and security in the community, especially as the country was moving towards the electioneering period, appealing to sons and daughters of Latawa community to rally round the new monarch for continued growth and development of the town.
In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate, said the new monarch is an excellent professional who had contributed to the development of the community, imploring Oba Oyefolu to use his new office to ensure peaceful co-existence among the indigenes and surrounding communities.
Contributing, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Adewale Ajayi, enjoining the Monarch to extend a hand of fellowship to every member of the community, saying, “as a father, he must be receptive and responsive to the people’s yearnings as his appointment should be considered as a call to service”.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Oyefolu thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for the speedy approval of his installation and the trust reposed on him.
