In the spirit of celebrating Christmas, wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Abiodun has admonished children to always show appreciation to God in all circumstances.
Mrs. Abiodun gave this admonition during the 2022 Children's Christmas Party organised by her Office and her pet project, Ajose Foundation for pupils of Daniel Akintonde Primary School for Special Needs Children, Adigbe, Abeokuta.
The First Lady said it was essential for the people to remain hopeful for better turn-around of any situation that might arise, adding that Christmas is about love and hope that the birth of Jesus had brought.
She said "how can you show appreciation to God? By taking care of the gift you have been given. The gift of Jesus brings us hope. Therefore, you should always ensure that no matter what is happening around you, you remain hopeful that it will always get better. Love is also another important aspect of this Gift. Let the love of Jesus radiate in your everyday living".
Mrs. Abiodun noted that “Christmas is not all about presents and getting new clothes and shoes. These are all nice, but we celebrate Christmas because God gave us the greatest gift of all and that is His Son, Jesus. And when you are given a precious gift, the most important thing to do is to show your appreciation”.
She lauded the efforts of the staff of the school for their selfless service to humanity, as well as parents, guardians for the care of the children, commending the partners and sponsors of the progammes.
Earlier in her address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, represented by the Director, Special Needs, Mr. Ilori Taiwo appreciated the First Lady for her love for the children and the commitment to their welfare of children with special needs in the State, urging the children to take their studies seriously in order to make their parents and the State proud.
Speaking on behalf of the other children at the event, Michael Adedoyin of Daniel Akintonde Primary School appreciated the First Lady for her love, describing the party as fun and memorable.
The celebration featured games, dancing competitions among other side attractions with distribution of gifts to the children by Father Christmas at the grotto.
