Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele says men and officers of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) should complement the present administration’s effort by being a positive reflection of the government on the roads.

Salako-Oyedele stated this in Abeokuta, while declaring open the 7th Annual TRACE Corps Commander's Conference with the theme: “Capacity Building and Ogun State Strategic Transport Master Plan: Role of TRACE”, saying the Agency was an integral part of the society due to its roles of saving lives and property.

She emphasised the need for them to work hand in hand with other agencies of government, especially Ministries of Transport, Works and infrastructure, as well as Urban and Physical Planning, to ensure professionalism and safety on the roads across the State.

The Deputy Governor said the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration had provided standard road infrastructure across the State for smooth vehicular movement which would make their work easier, urging them to be good ambassadors while discharging their duties.

In his remark, the Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro implored the officers to be proactive and vigilant during the Yuletide period and take advantage of training and retraining provided by the government for all cadres in the Civil Service to improve their performances and operations.

Delivering his keynote address, Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo who spoke on the theme, said the State government operates multi-Modal Transportation policies and with a strategic master plan to achieve an effective Transportation system that is acceptable worldwide.

"Transportation is very crucial to the economic development of the nation and it needs to be sustained through adequate provision of an enabling environment, such as provision of road infrastructure and training for officers", Engr. Dairo said.

In his welcome address, the TRACE Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer, Commander Olaseni Ogunyemi stated that capacity building was essential for operatives in the transportation sector to ensure safety.

Ogunyemi added that “TRACE is ready to contribute her quota to enable the State achieve the objectives of its Strategic Transport Master Plan, to further harness the potential in the transport sector".

Delivering a paper titled: “Leadership Succession Planning in the Civil Service, the Chairman, Ogun State Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi noted that leadership should be effective, self-confidence with strong communication and management skills, adding that a good leader must ready to take risks, open to change and be reactive in terms of crisis to show their subordinates the way forward even in their absence.

Speaking on behalf of other participants, Commander Victoria Olaoke and Commander Babatunde Adeloye said the training was apt and would enhance their operations even at the time the government was stepping up road infrastructure across the State, in order to reduce the road crashes and safe more lives.
