Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on Nigerians to continue to promote the cultural heritage of the nation, to enable future generations to bequeath with history.
Governor Abiodun made the call during the celebration of Itori Day and other cultural festivals, saying culture plays an important role in the development of the society.
The Governor noted that ‘’culture goes a long way in describing who we are as a people, how far we have gone, and why we are where we are. It is important for the people to continue to celebrate culture so that it won't go into extinction’’.
The State helmsman who stated that traditional festivals stand as a marriage between culture and community development said the celebration would continue to be a rallying point for all sons and daughters of the Itori town, commending the monarch for embracing the philosophy of self-help and self-reliance for the progress of the community.
Abiodun urged the people of the town to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card, to enable them to perform their civic responsibilities in the 2023 General Elections, saying his administration would not tolerate any form of cultism and thuggery during the period.
In his remarks, the Olu Itori of Itori, Oba Akorede Akamo while commending Governor Abiodun for exhibiting good character and governance, acknowledged his regard and welfare for the traditional institutions in the State.
