ABIODUN URGES ENGINEERS TO ABIDE BY PROFESSIONAL ETHICS



          Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has admonished engineers to adhere strictly to ethics and  approved engineering codes of practice, to protect national development and economic investment on infrastructure.


          Governor Abiodun gave the admonition during the inauguration of Ogun State Technical Committee (OGSTC) and State Expatriate Monitoring Committee (OGSEMC) of the Engineering Regulations Monitoring under the Council For Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


     Members of the Committee comprised of the representatives of State government, Federal and State Ministry Of Works, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, Local Government Service Commission, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Largest Employer of Engineering Practitioners in  State, among others.


        Abiodun affirmed that engineering practice has its pride of place in taking the country to a greater height, saying “mediocrity in the profession should no longer be accepted in achieving the developmental efforts of the State and the nation at large”.


     The Governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, emphasised the need for the newly inaugurated Committee to come up with stringent regulations that would guide the ethics and practice  of the profession in the execution of projects in the course of performing their duties.


     Governor Abiodun promised his continued support in providing a conducive environment for the engineering profession to accomplish its objectives of entrenching standard for quality, reiterating his administration's commitment to the development of infrastructure across the State and commended the Council for inaugurating the Engineering Regulatory  Monitoring Programme in the State.  Speaking earlier, the President of COREN, Engr. Ali Rabiu applauded the Governor for being strategic in transforming the State into an industrial capital of the country, urging the members of both Committee to be proactive in their new assignment in order to keep engineering practice on the global reckoning.
