The Chairman Yewa North Local Government, Hon. Gabriel Ogunyomi has called on traffic agencies and road users in the Council to bring sanity on the roads before, during and after the yuletide to ensure safety of lives and property.
Hon. Ogunyomi made the call while speaking with news men in his office at Ayetoro saying, traffic management is a collective responsibility, thus, everyone should be cautious and responsible on the road, to reduce the level of road accidents.
He acknowledged the unalloyed efforts of traffic agencies in recent times which he noted has taken the knowledge of traffic management to the doorsteps of everybody and not in the hands of transport unions alone.
He expressed government's continued readiness to encourage operatives of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in their operations, charging them not to relent in upholding their statutory duties of free flow of traffic, as well as safety of road users, through various public enlightenment programmes, patrols and enforcement, for the well-being of motoring public.
Speaking in the same vein, Commander of TRACE, Salako Kayode said his Command would focus on reduction of carnages in its jurisdiction, ensure prompt evacuation of broken down vehicles and other hazardous items from the road, as well as enforcement of traffic laws and education of road users.
On his part the Chairman Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria, Mr Lateef Yussuf lauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for making the Gateway State more motorable with various construction of roads and other infrastructural projects, promising compliance to traffic rules and support of his government.
