Towards ensuring accountability and value for money in government spending, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), says fundamental principles of public procurement should be adhered to, in all government establishments across the State.
The Director General of the Bureau, Dr. Adesina Olanloye said this during an interactive session between his team and the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Governing Council, at Ojere in Abeokuta.
Dr. Olanloye affirmed that all procuring entities in the State should be acquainted with the Public Procurement process, its implementation, as well as incorporate them in their procurement activities, saying there were administrative and criminal sanctions for any establishment that violates the Law and sabotage the Public Procurement process of the State.
"In Public Procurement, we want to have the best possible total cost, right quantity, time, place and utilise public funds to get the best value for money in a way that promotes Fairness, Competitiveness, Accountability, Transparency and Professionalism in line with global best practices", he said.
The BBP Boss appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for giving the Bureau the chance to contribute its quota to the development of the State, commending the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic for being the first tertiary institution in Ogun State to comply with the Bureau's directive.
In his remark, the Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, lauded the Bureau for the enlightenment and promised to digest and work on the procurement process.
